CONON BRIDGE COMMUNITY COUNCIL
In September, the Community Council hosted an excellent talk by Lynne McKeggie of Highland Archaeology Services Ltd on the examination of Tulloch's next housing development at Schoolbelt Woods in Conon.
The final report on the archaeology of the site has now been received and a copy can be found through the Link below.
The presentation sparked some interest in the archaeology of Conon Bridge and the Community Council will soon consider further initiatives. Details will appear on the website.
Addendum: A similar investigation was carried out, on behalf of Cameron / Paterson, for the Braes of Conon Housing Development in 2012. This Report is available through the button below.
CONON BRIDGE: LEANAIG ROAD: WATER MAIN CRM:090700001046
Following an enquiry by the Community Council, Scottish Water have indicated that they propose to rehab Leanaig Road and surrounding water mains between April 2026 and April 2027.
Please see the Map to the LEFT showing the mains that are planned to be rehabbed in red.
Over the last few months a number of people have expressed an interest in allotments.
There is a possibility of this happening, depending on demand.
So, if interested, and you live in either Conon Bridge or Maryburgh, please let CBCC know.
David's Fort 2024 - a potential project of the Community Council.
The current Community Council Member started work in November 2023. Over the last few months many projects have been discussed. However, the Comminty Council cannot own land or employ staff. To do that a local Community Trust will need to be established.
Conon Bridge is at least 10 years behind other local communities in developing local initiatives. Some will be relatively easy to do, others will need a lot of money.
The Community Council have great ambitions for projects to excite and improve the Village.
For some projects, you will say "about time" and for others you will be genuinely surprised at how ambitious we are.
TO TAKE THIS FORWARD, WE WILL NEED YOUR VIEWS AND HOPEFULLY SUPPORT.
.
One of the key roles of Conon Bridge Community Council is to represent the views of the community to The Highland Council and other public bodies in the area. The Community Council will be represented on the Conon Bridge Community Trust once it is fully established.
To this end, we will be designating Portfolio Holder to drive forward specific projects. The Folio holders are: -
Sitting in the Big Chair - John Bruce
Community and being nice - Stephen MacDonald
Green Spaces and Woodland
History -
Teckie stuff - John G.
Content Creators - Amelie Thomson and Argyll Kerr
The developers at the houses site in the Schoolbelt woods have shut off the usual path enjoyed by walkers in the wood. Tulloch's have now advised the Community Council that the path will be realigned, as shown on the plan opposite.
Tullochs (on Monday12/08) -advised that are putting the Schoolhouse Site on hold until next year so will not be closing any paths this year.
When construction resumes, the Company will secure the site for the safety of the general public but will be keeping the core path network open, via a temporary diversion and agreed with THC as Planning Authority.
The path that runs north to south through the development area is not a core path therefore they consider that they have no obligation to keep it open, nor reinstate it. However, if you view the approved Planning Site layout drawing (available via www.wam.highland.gov.uk ), you will see we are proposing a link to the non-core path to the south which will be available for public use once construction is complete.

Conon Bridge Community Council believe in the power of unity and collaboration. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for all residents through community directed projects and initiatives that prioritize community well-being.
The Community Council has identified areas of Conon life that need to be improved. DEtails will be announced soon.
SCOTTISH PARLIAMENTARY REGION - Highland and Islands
SCOTTISH PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCY - Skye, Lochaber & Badenoch
UK PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCY -Caithness, Sutherland & Ross
HIGHLAND COUNCIL WARD - Dingwall & Seaforth
POLLING DISTRICT - CS08D
The Community Council area is small and its boundary, as approved by the Highland Council is shown on the map opposite.
For election purposes, the Polling District is vitally important. Ours is named CS08D. Its area is shown on Map 2. Note it takes in a skelp of Ferintosh, with the A835 forming the boundary.
The full electorate is 1,727 electors, as at 1 February 2024. The public Electoral Register only has 700 electors.
So, if the Community Council wants to write to electors 1, 027 will miss out because their name and address is not public. Shame about that.
We will actively involve residents in decision-making processes, ensuring everyone is able to have a voice in shaping our future. The CC is discussing the real geographical nature of Conon, perhaps limited to the following postcode units: IV6 7XP; IV6 7XW; IV7 8AA; IV7 8AB; IV7 8AD; IV7 8AE; IV7 8AF; IV7 8AG; IV7 8AH; IV7 8AJ; IV7 8AL; IV7 8AN; IV7 8AP;IV7 8AQ; IV7 8AW; IV7 8AZ; IV7 8BA; IV7 8BBIV7 8BE; IV7 8BG; IV7 8BH; IV7 8BJ; IV7 8BL; IV7 8BN; IV7 8BP; IV7 8BQ; IV7 8BS;IV7 8BT; IV7 8BU; IV7 8BW; IV7 8BX; IV7 8BY; IV7 8BZ; IV7 8DA; IV7 8DB; IV7 8DB; IV7 8DN; IV7 8DU; IV7 8EX; IV7 8FB; IV7 8HA; IV7 8HB; IV7 8HD; IV7 8HE; IV7 8HF; IV7 8HL; IV7 8HN; IV7 8HP; IV7 8HW; IV7 8JE; IV7 8JH; IV7 6DE; IV7 8AA; IV7 8AE; IV7 8AG; IV7 8AH; IV7 8AJ; IV7 8AL; IV7 8AP; IV7 8AQ; IV7 8AT; IV7 8AW; IV7 8AX; IV7 8AY; IV7 8AZ; IV7 8BB; IV7 8BD; IV7 8BE; IV7 8BF; IV7 8BH; IV7 8BJ; IV7 8BQ; IV7 8BS; IV7 8BT; IV7 8BU; IV7 8BW; IV7 8BX; IV7 8BY; IV7 8BZ; IV7 8DA; IV7 8DB; IV7 8DE; IV7 8DG; IV7 8DJ; IV7 8FA; IV7 8FB; IV7 8FD; IV7 8FE; IV7 8FF; IV7 8FG; IV7 8FJ; IV7 8FL;IV7 8HA; IV7 8HB; IV7 8HD; IV7 8HF; IV7 8HL; IV7 8HP; IV7 8HW; IV7 8HX; IV7 8JE; IV7 8JH
